I was getting annoyed with corpses disappearing so quickly, so I made this little script. There is also a config you can play around with. Hopefully there are no bugs, but if you do find any, please report them and I'll take a look.
Requirements:
1. Script Hook V (https://www.dev-c.com/gtav/scripthookv/)
2. Community Script Hook V .NET (https://www.gta5-mods.com/tools/scripthookv-net)
Installation:
1. Simply extract the contents of the archive to the 'scripts' folder where GTA V is installed

@CustomAmelia Hi, glad you like it. I noticed the gore thing too. I think it might be an engine limitation (or perhaps they bled out lol), and there isn't a straightforward way of changing how it works. A custom gore mod might solve it, but I've not tried that. If I do come across a simple way to implement it, I'll be happy to include it in this script as an option
This only works for base game, or with mods like GTA Online Survivals by JustDancePC?
It would be cool to get body piles in that mode.

@martinator001 Could you tell me what line of code or file your script affects? I wouldn't mind looking at your code if I could. But yeah, just knowing what in the game files affects the despawn distance of dead bodies.
@martinator001 Could you also make the pools of blood not disappear? - I think I found a small bug, when the corpses are too many they start to fall out of the map, as many times the player falls from the ground to the simply void of nowhere.

@Gahler You can't use mods that are located in the script folder in online, the game won't let you enter online

Got it! it works. I also had to install Community Script Hook V .NET
The corpses continue to be peds, the number of which is limited to 256. Each new corpse reduces by one walking ped from the environment. It would be great if the corpses changed their status, for example, to items, so as not to spend the limit for living peds.
The corpses limits more than just peds, I had set a really high limit and caused some carnage, and noticed there was.. no traffic. nobody to kill, no cars, and NO COPS!
This is a pretty serious issue and I wish it would be fixed.
It would also be better if smart remove cleaned corpses up when a mission was failed and retried, and when you die, or get busted.
Reason being that when a mission fails and retry, they "didnt die" and you'll get duplicates, and when *you* die its been hours in-game so presumably the city cleaned them up.
Otherwise a nice mod
Is there a version for vehicles instead?
Works as intended, and kind of an irrelevant question but is there a way to keep the ragdolls 'active'? Notice when you shoot an npc, initially the ragdoll is super floppy, meaning shooting it or running it over would have it move and twitch around violently like a ragdoll should, until the ragdoll is completely 'dead' and a blood pool begins to form, so when you shoot, stab, or run over the dead body it is no longer as floppy and is difficult to move it around.
This is a good mod! For me it only works for non law enforcement though. I have realism dispatch enhanced and I really wish this mod worked with it. Im not sure if there's a specific in game file this mod changes.
