A b̶r̶a̶n̶d̶ ̶n̶e̶w̶ rusty 200 year old locomotive, fresh from the Mojave Wasteland.
It's probably not 100% accurately modeled since it's imported from a game set in a fictional world, but it looks close to the real thing. The model doesn't have any actual interior details, but you can drive it in first person and see through the windows.
Anyways, this is my first vehicle mod and just a test sort of thing so it's not perfect. It works fine, but it lacks some stuff like breakable windows.
There's a version that replaces the default freight engine and an addon version for use in a custom train config.
Model source: Fallout: New Vegas
Changelog:
1.1 - Added extra decals to the model, a clean Western Pacific skin and blank template textures for reskinning.
note: a template specular map isn't included, but you can create one out of the main body texture.

@Exoskeleton Great mod mad! Would love to see a UP Big Boy 4884!!
@SkylineGTRFreak I see. You should definitely make some train mods for V though, especially since there's not much of them around so far!
@Hnagy78 Would you like to have the default freight loco and this one at the same time?
@BULLFAYCE Haha, that's impossible for me atm. I don't even know if it's possible to animate the wheels for it.
there s no way u can make the wheels spin i tryed pretty much everything and it will crash your game sadly, btw Exoskeleton great job reskin it looks dope and real as hell ,thanks again for your great work .
@vladimir9292 You've actually tried it? Interesting. Also, I went ahead and checked if someone has made a steam locomotive yet.
Sure enough someone has done it, and the wheels actually spin: https://youtu.be/2RuvxKxQlus
No idea if/when it's released or who made it.
@Exoskeleton Yes both.
@Hnagy78
Try this one, it's the default trains.xml with half of the locomotives as default ones, half as this mod: https://pastebin.com/3UY5qsuj
@Exoskeleton
Unrelated to the actual mod, but if you wanna make some more train mods, I have some models I can't port to the game myself. You could take a look if you want.
@Walter For sure, I can take a look and see if I can get them ported. Do you have them uploaded somewhere?
@Exoskeleton
Yeah but I'd rather not share them here, do you have a steam account? (If so, add me there)
@Walter Alright, I added you. Name is Strider.
@Exoskeleton Is there any way to add the add-on train to the train traffic in the game to have the vanilla train and this train roam the train tracks of San Andreas?
@Carrythxd Yeah, there's a link to that train configuration a few comments above. Paste it into "trains.xml" in mods>common.rpf>data>levels>gta5 and you'll get half normal locomotives and half these. Tell me if there's any problems with it.
@Exoskeleton Works perfectly, thank you!
Where is green skin like in last screenshots?
@-Sonic_Boom- It's included in the download.
@-Sonic_Boom- @Exoskeleton It's included in the "replace" folder. Minimal work, change the name "freight" to "Funit" and replace the WP skins in the addon.
If you feel up to the challenge you could take the more complex route and edit the files yourself and make both of them avalible and add more variety in your "train.xml" file. Either way they're both nice skins in their own ways.
Cool mod, I've actually driven a sister engine to that western pacific one you made.
Beautiful model and skin!
As someone who has had the opportunity to actually look at these up close I noticed that the wheels are 0.1 or 0. 2 inches wider than the track in game, it is also equal to or larger than an EMD E unit, also from my research most F units except for FT's, F2's and early F3's only had two porthole windows on each side while the FT's had four porthole windows on each side, F2's and early f3's both had three porthole windows on each side almost all EMD E units had four porthole windows on each side. Also according to the research I did ditch lights are not accurate for both the EMD F Units and E Units before 1990's there may have been exceptions but it has not been well documented, also the boxes on top were discontinued on the F3 Phase two model locomotives and are non existent on the EMD E units. Just from looking at the model I would say it is closer to the E unit than an F unit as you can only tell the two apart from the number of axles the placement of the door to the engine compartment, the number and the placement of porthole windows on the side as well as the length of the locomotive. I can not find any record of Western Pacific ever having diesels numbered in the four hundreds except for subsidiary company Sacramento Northern and those were yard switching diesel locomotives or electric locomotives. other than the thins that I have pointed out, I really like the mod and the textures are 100% accurate.
@Exoskeleton hay there do you think you could make the train have a interior and make the beacon light work if possible.
